NexGen teams up with Kaveon International Tennis

We would like to welcome Kaveon International Tennis to our team! We will be implementing a sports science backed fitness program specifically for tennis players at Kaveon's International Tennis located in Nellie Gail Tennis and Swim Club.

We are very excited to collaborate on-court fitness training with their intense and disciplined clinic that Kaveon International Tennis is known for. Kaveon understands how important it is to incorporate a strategic fitness program to achieve peak performance.

Here are some examples of what we will be implementing in the program.

Phase I - Building the foundation of the human body.

Static body awareness and strength.

By truly understanding how the human body functions on a physiological and biomechanical basis, we are be able to provide the best off court training.

In this basic fundamental stage, players will get to know how the human body really functions. In general, this stage will work on static full body strength, breath control, static balance, tension-relaxation control and core strength.

We have listed few examples of what we focus on and how each drill applies to this phase:-

  • Understand where the majority of the power comes from when a player strikes a ball.

  • Learn the most ideal posture to strike a ball. What should you look like?

  • Players will become aware and understand its body and how it functions in a static stage.

  • Develop the kinetic chain and understand the connection with its body.

  • Develop and build core strength statically preparing players for dynamic movement patterns.

Phase II – Dynamic Functional Awareness and Control

In this stage, players will be challenged and progressed into controlling its movements in a dynamic manner. Players will be working on dynamic stability, strength, movement patterns and dynamic core strength with emphasis on rotational power.

We have listed few examples of what we focus on and how each drill applies to this phase:-

  • Players will be working on dynamic movement patterns and having total control of its own body.

  • The most ideal posture and angles of the body in different dynamic movement patterns.

  • Correct breath control when the body is in motion.

  • Understanding the concept of the Kinetic Chain (Triple Extension).

  • How to maximize rotational power.

Phase III - Tennis Specific Movement Patterns with Strength and Power

In this stage, we will be focusing on tennis specific movements, strength and power. Once you have gone through building solid foundation of the human body in phase I and II, it is time to apply the foundation to tennis specific patterns.

We have listed few examples of what we focus on and how each drill applies to this phase:-

  • Tennis specific linear and lateral movement patterns.

  • Tennis specific foot speed drills.

  • Medicine ball resistance work. Forehands, backhands and serves.

  • Multi Directional efficiency work with emphasis on the correct way to do split steps.

  • Bungee cord resistance movement patterns and power.
